Genre talk gets ridiculous. And personally I beleive trying to define a genre is just welcoming pigeon holeing and close mindedness. But that's just me.

Saying that nirvana is metal is like saying that jimmy hendrix was an adopted white boy from kongo to a family of half chinese and half japaneese parents

Naw, don't see that -- heavy =/= metal. Metal is a very precise style, and on Bleach, the riffing is too dense most of the time, and the majority of the technical side of the music was more minimalist than what metal usually involves. Having said that, "School" would be metal if Kurt had decided to play more notes.KristinNirvana wrote: ↑Thu Mar 29, 2024 4:48 am Bleach was a total metal album, I've also heard several other people say that as well

Grunge (noun): too metal for punk, too punk for metal.
